two-way street

being a teacher often feels like it's a one-way street. i pour, pour, pour into students and their families. and rarely do i get feedback. sometimes students will go home and dump all their emotions and frustrations out about school, but i will not see that when they are with me at school. then sometimes, i get a panicked phone call from a parent about it. sometimes i am misunderstood. all the while, the student is not giving me that feedback in class. just taking it home with them. you never know what they are really thinking.

i think students have a responsibility to give feedback to their teachers. i like the ones who do.

i want a two-way street.
